Remote identity verification for organisations with obligations under the Dutch anti-money laundering act (Wwft). Your client shows their ID document and takes a selfie on their own phone. You receive the evidence for your file.

klopt (Dutch): it checks out.

How it works

From invitation to evidence in your file.

  1. 01

    Your software requests it

Your client portal or case management system creates a verification request with the name and date of birth you expect. Your client receives a personal link.

  2. 02

Your client knows who is asking

The invitation shows your name and explains what happens to their data. If they open it on a computer, a QR code takes them to their phone.

  3. 03

    Document and selfie, no app

In their phone’s browser, your client photographs their passport, ID card or driving licence and takes a selfie, with live guidance on focus, light and framing.

  4. 04

You get the outcome and the evidence

Klopt compares the document with the person you expect and checks its authenticity and the face. You receive an outcome and the complete evidence for your file.

Three outcomes. You decide.

The outcome is advice. Client due diligence and the decision stay with you, as the Wwft intends.

  • Klopt · verified

The document is genuine, the person is its holder and the details match.

  • Inconclusive

For example a maiden name, an extra given name or a blurry photo. Your client can try again; you judge a difference in the name yourself.

  • Not verified

The document has expired, isn’t accepted, or a check failed. A sign of fraud ends the request immediately.

Who it’s for

For those who must know who they are dealing with.

Klopt is built for organisations that must identify their client and verify that client’s identity under the Wwft, also when the client isn’t sitting across the table.

  • Notaries

Identify new clients before they come to the office. With a legal basis, the BSN can be included in the evidence.

  • Lawyers and legal practices

For your practice’s work that falls under the Wwft. Without a legal basis for the BSN, it stays out of sight and out of the evidence.

  • Accountants and tax advisers

They must know their clients too. Klopt fits into the onboarding you already have.

  • Software companies

Do you build software for these organisations? Integrate Klopt into your client portal or case management system and offer identity verification under your own name.

Privacy & security

As little data as possible, for as short as possible.

An ID document and a face are sensitive data. Klopt is built to keep as little of them as it can.

  • The BSN stays out

Klopt removes the Dutch citizen service number (BSN) from the data and makes it unreadable in the photos. Only an organisation with a legal basis, which we have checked in advance, can receive it.

  • Deleted after 30 days

The evidence belongs in your file, not with us. Thirty days after a request ends, we delete all personal data and photos.

  • Stored encrypted

For as long as we hold the evidence, it is encrypted. Our own staff can’t view it.

  • Every retrieval logged

We record when the evidence was retrieved and by whom. The notifications we send to your software contain no personal data.

  • No identities in stock

Every request stands on its own. We don’t build a profile that is later reused for another organisation.

  • Your client can always say no

If your client doesn’t want to take a selfie, they can choose to identify another way. No one is forced into face matching.

Honest about what it is: remote document and selfie is not an eIDAS means. Every piece of evidence says so, so you can decide which clients it suits.
